Season Opener!

Tuesday, March 4th, 2008 9:44 pm by Falling Illini

Hey skydivers! This Saturday is a very special day. It’s Safety Day at Archway Skydiving Centre.  This is special because it’s kind of like a season opener for the dropzone.  If you are uncurrent then you can get recurrency training for free! There will also be other activities going on, as well as Van’s Twin Otter. If you haven’t seen or jumped this plane then you need to come out, because it’s awesome!

So if you want to go email me your name, number, which day, what jump you want to do, and if you can drive. Hope to see you this weekend.

Blue skies!

Aviation Career Night

Wednesday, February 6th, 2008 2:46 pm by Falling Illini

Hey skydivers! Thanks to all of you who showed your support at the Aviation Career Night. The Falling Illini had a booth there and we spread information, flyers, and stickers for the club. We even got a few excited people and soon to be students to sign up for the mailing list. It was great!

Welcome! (No Meeting)

Monday, January 28th, 2008 10:36 pm by Falling Illini

Hey everyone! Welcome all of you new skydivers who signed up during Activity Day. We had a great turnout. I thought we were going to have a meeting this Thursday, but unfortunately we are going to have to postpone it. However, you don’t need to go to it to go skydiving!

This is how it works: if you want to go skydiving any weekend simply email me your name, what day you want to go, your phone number, what type of jump you want to make, and if you can drive.  If you have friends coming with you just send me their information, or email. If you don’t know what type of jump you want to do check out fallingillini.org under “My First Jump” or “Types of Jumps.” Or you can email me and I can give you suggestions. It’s that easy!

It’s looking a little cloudy this weekend but if you want to go we will take you down! Blue skies!

Falling Illini’s New Year’s Resolutions

Monday, January 28th, 2008 9:41 pm by Falling Illini

I’ve been thinking about some things that I would like to see happen before I take off, before the end of the semester. So here are a few ideas, some goals that I think we can accomplish!

250 New Jumpers

5 New Licensed Members

Cool, new flyers for publicity

Give aways on the radio

Raffles for tandems for fundraising

Travel to dropzones around the state

Skydiving courses on canopy flight

Getting a Falling Illini Parachute

Hosting a Skydiving Collegiate Invitational

New contests for members

All of these goals are possible with the help of our jumpers, members, and supporters. With your help we can share the wonderful sport of skydiving with everyone!

If you want to jump out of a perfectly good airplane this weekend email me back with your name, the type of jump you want to do, your number, and if you can drive. We’ll get you set up.

 Blue skies,

Chili Party, Skydiving, and Business

Wednesday, December 5th, 2007 5:56 pm by Daniel Bedford

This weekend is a special weekend for Archway and the Falling Illini.  This Saturday is the annual Chili Party at Archway after a day of jumping.  Besides delicious chili Rich Mullins will also have his King Air there. If you have never jumped out of one I highly recommend you come this Saturday.

If you want to come jumping this weekend, respond to this email with your name, the day you want to go, the jump you want to do, your phone number, and if you can drive.  Come out and go skydiving with us before finals start!

January 22nd starting at 11am is Activity Day in the Union. It is very similar to Quad Day in the fall in that all the RSOs can have booths to promote their organizations.  The Falling Illini has signed up, and we will most likely have a booth during Activity Day.  I will send out more information as it gets closer, but we hope for all of your support when it rolls around.

The Staff Contest is getting very close to ending.  Mike Murphy has two more weekends to defend his lead.  If you have faculty or staff who want to go skydiving, get them out there so you can win that $150 instead!
