Skydiving over Spring Break

Thursday, March 15th, 2007 11:49 am by Aaron VanDevender

If you aren’t taking off for spring break right away, and would like to make a jump or five, this weekend let me know. The weather looks better for Saturday than Sunday right now, so let me know your name, number, type of jump, and if you can drive. If you are going on break, then have a blast, do a body shot for the Falling Illini, and we’ll see you in the sky when you get back.

Congratulations to New Jumpers

The first weekend in the sky this semister was a beautiful one. We couldn’t have asked for better weather. It was warm, sunny, calm and clear all day. A big hand goes out to Kevin McCuster and Mark Rolla who made their first static line jumps, and to Matt Gornick, Andrew Navik, Brett Mattas, and Derek Lesco who made tandem jumps. And for those wondering about me and my tiny canopy, I landed on my feet every time. No face plants!

Winter is Over, Let’s Skydive

Wednesday, March 7th, 2007 2:54 pm by Aaron VanDevender

The world has been warming up, and it is now time to return to the sky. As President of the Falling Illini, I officially declare winter over. Lets go jump. If you’d like to get in the air this weekend, please let me know. Be sure and include your name, type of jump, phone number, and if you have a car.

This weekend is going to be especially exciting, since I’m going to be jumping a new demo canopy, a Sabre2 150, which is much smaller and faster than my usual parachute. I’ll be swooping in pretty hot, so if you are curious to see if I’m going to biff the landings or not, you’ll have to come out.
