Skydiving 9/24-9/25

Thursday, September 22nd, 2005 10:54 am by Brad

So although I missed last weekend, I am glad to hear that we had a lot of people come out and jump. I hope that we can keep it up and continue to bring new jumpers into the sport. On that note, lets talk about this weekend. I am thinking about going to the football game, so if anyone wants to go on sunday let me know. If not and there is a big crowd on saturday, well skydiving comes first and i will go then. So let me know if and when you are going.

Congradulations to New Jumpers

Thursday, September 22nd, 2005 1:02 am by Aaron VanDevender

This weekend was a pretty big weekend for the Falling Illini. The weather was beautiful and we had 18 Falling Illini make skydives, including 14 first timers! On Saturday Jon Wilkinson, ShuHao Wang, and Ben Andersen made their first static-line jumps. Evan Sanders made a tandem jump. On Sunday we had Megan Dye, Joel Lau, Torance Khoo, and FangPing Lim do tandem jumps, and in the static-line course we had a Falling Illini airborne platoon: Emily Heindel, Maggie Kostova, Art Riewaldt, Paul Ahn, Ashish Gupta, Adam Hood and Tommy Parkhill. Congradulations, guys!

Skydiving 9/17-9/18

I’m organizing dropzone trips for both Saturday and Sunday this weekend, so email me if you want to go jump. Don’t let the pouring rain discourage you, the forcast for this weekend looks good. And be sure and mention what kind of skydive you want to make (Static-Line, Tandem, or AFF) if this is your first jump, and also if you have a car and would be willing to drive.

Congradulations to New Jumpers

I would like to congradulate new jumpers David Pirszel, Manuela Jandl, and Hans Boye who made their first static-line skydives and Taylor Boydstun, who made his first AFF jump on Saturday. I would also like to congradulate Kora Lazarski who made her first tandem jump, and Philip Makotyn who completed his static-line jumps and did his first freefall. Way to go, guys!

SkyDiving 9/10-9/11

Thursday, September 8th, 2005 10:52 am by Brad

We will try to keep this one short. Let me know if you will be going down this weekend. I know Aaron already has a full car, and i will be heading down on saturday. If we have a lot of people going, which i hope we do, then we will need someone else to drive. This is just another reminder that AFF and Tandems for this weekend might be out of the question due to the short notice. You need to give me at least a weeks heads up. Also if your not eighteen yet, then unfortunatly you will need to wait till you are, sorry.

SkyDiving 9/3-9/4

Thursday, September 1st, 2005 9:31 pm by Brad

Ok since I will not be going down this weekend, and will not be at a computer tomorrow I am going to pass this one off to Aaron. Now the fun thing about this is, I have not told him this so let’s all just hope he is cool about it. Although it is Aaron so I think we might be ok. I mean it is his like 9 year of college (not kidding, although he will be like a rocket scientist or something) he should have a lot of time on his hands.

Anyway, since a lot of you are new, I will run through this again. All you need to do is respond to the email (TO Aaron) if you will be heading down this weekend. If you want to do a tandem or AFF jump you better let him know so he can call down to make sure there is room. For all of you who have not checked the website recently, we will be needed at least a WEEK notice if you want to do either the tandem or the AFF. Archway is a busy place and fills up. First Jump Course students (static line) you do not need to make reservations so do not worry about it.

When you respond to Aaron, let him know if you have a car, just incase we need more room. As for the driving; it seems that between the Mother Nature and the stupid oil industries, who by the way made a 35% greater profit this year, the gas prices have gone off the charts. Now I am not that old, but when I started driving gas was $0.89 a gallon so I am little bitter if you haven’t noticed. Back to the point, as always if you are getting a ride from someone expect to pay AT LEAST $5. That is what the club, for lack of a better word, requires you to pay. Although, being generous and giving more is not frowned upon. I filled up 3/4 of a tank today for $5o.oo!!!!

Sorry for the long message, but I could not help using this medium I have to stand on my soap box for a bit. I will try to keep them shorter for now on. (Do not hold me to that)
